Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation (BAC) is a progressive Aboriginal corporation based in Maningrida that employs over 200 people. We represent and assist over 4000 Aboriginal people in the 32 homelands surrounding Maningrida in West Arnhem Land. Our work is carried out in the context of people’s traditional lands, cultural practices, and languages. Our services include new building and maintenance, road maintenance, arts, community development programs, collection of wild foods, and many more.
Job Description
This is a high-level arts administration role that supports the recent regrowth and expansion of the activities of the art centre and other parts of the Arts & Culture Division.
At the forefront is providing high-level services to our primary internal stakeholders - artists and cultural custodians of the larger Maningrida region and in turn the delivery of highest-level outcomes for our ex-ternal partners including institutions, galleries, retail outlets, government and philanthropic organisations. This is achieved, in this role, through the administrative support of our diverse, talented and culturally knowledgeable teams.
The position will assist supervise and provide support to the Maningrida Arts & Culture department under the direction of the Arts Centre Manager.
Desired Skills and Experience
SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential:
Demonstrated experience in a similar role including bookkeeping, general accounts, logistics and event coordination;
Knowledge of the arts industry and art market including commercial galleries, institutions, relevant legislation and current issues;
Relevant tertiary qualifications in arts management or similar;
Experience using information systems, databases, websites and various software packages in a range of environments on Mac and PC;
Strong solutions focused approach and an ability to work to tight deadlines in a challenging and changeable work environment;
Ability to remain flexible with moving priorities and incoming opportunities;
Proven experience writing and acquitting grants;
A commitment to working with honesty and integrity;
Good interpersonal communication;
Experience in working in a cross-cultural environment;
Demonstrated leadership, mentoring and team management to ensure capability, capacity to assist delivery of current and future work plans.
Demonstrated respect for cultural knowledge, leadership and self-determination;
Ability to undertake training and development;
Police clearance with no recorded criminal convictions in the past 10 years Drivers license or ability to get one;
Desirable:
Experience living and working in a remote area, and / or knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal protocol
Knowledge of the Aboriginal arts industry
Knowledge of arts practice and materials

Base Salary: $81,655.48 per annum
Plus 12% superannuation
